MABS Hand Over Ceremony

The Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) on Wednesday ,September 26, met with the Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (MABS) for a hand over ceremony after years of partnership.

MABS is an economic program that seeks to develop the expansion of Philippine rural bank s to micro financing by providing training and technical assistance.

MABS has concluded its 15-year contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which aims to do research and develop financial facilities for the low-income individuals.

USAID is a US government arm that provides economic assistance and food aid to the Philippines.

During the ceremony, held at the RBAP Building, John Owens, chief of party, gave a run through of all the research activities conducted by the MABS.

Among these were training materials on disaster preparedness- preparation, implementation and post implementation manuals.

“If anyone wants information, they can directly get it here, just download it,” Owens said.

According to Owens all research materials are available online and can be used by anybody.

“They just have to attribute,” Owens said.

MABS has put up an online website that holds research documents for the past 15 years.

Also present during the event was RBAP president Atty. Edward Leandro Garcia, who expressed his gratitude toward the MABS personnel for its dedication to research.
